What We Lost is a music journey through loss, shaped by silence and the quiet presence of nature.
It began with a question:
If music played when loss first entered the world, what would it have sounded like?
The record invites you to pause and sit with what has been lost.
Available on Bandcamp March 13.
Singles release March 13 and 27.
Full album streaming April 24.
Limited-run vinyl, CD, and printed musical score booklet available.

The Composer

Hanan Townshend is a New Zealand–born composer and pianist whose work spans film, contemporary classical, and ambient music. Known for his restrained and emotionally detailed approach, his music favors presence over momentum and space over density.A longtime collaborator of filmmaker Terrence Malick, he has contributed music to The Tree of Life, To the Wonder, Knight of Cups, and Voyage of Time, alongside scores for narrative and documentary films internationally.Townshend grew up on a remote coastal farm in New Zealand, where an early connection to landscape and natural rhythm continues to inform his work. He now composes from his studio in Austin, Texas.
